The Dona Paula beach in Goa located at the delta of two rivers flowing into the Arabian Sea. There is the legend of Dona Paula de Manazes which claims the beach to be haunted with her spirit looking for her deceased beloved. This just attracted more tourists out of curiosity and fun rather than scare the people away. Apart from the myth, the Dona Paula, Goa has plenty of water sports and sunbath booths for having fun while visiting Goa. The Governor of Goa has his official residence, the Cabo Raj Bhavan, on the westernmost tip of the Dona Paula beach. Just 7 km away is Panjim or Panaji, the capital city of Goa.

Formerly a fishing village, this beach is now much commercialized and publicized. There is also a small military cemetery built by the British during their brief occupation of the Coba. The Reis Magos Church is one of the oldest churches built in Goa. It depicts the three Magi taken from the Bible. The Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is constructed at the western tip of the Island of Choro. About 9 km away from the Dona Paula beach in Goa and spread over an area of 2 sq km, this sanctuary is a mangrove forest with plenty of migratory and local birds flying around.
The National Oceanography Institute, The Miramar beach and the Vaniguinim beach are in close vicinity. The Dona Paula beach of Goa has been used numerous times as a backdrop in many Indian Movies like the Ek Duje Ke Liye. The most important festivals celebrated by the locals living around the village are Janmasthami and the feast of St. Lawrence. There is also a colorful water sport held every November with cycle races and water scooter competitions. Several shops line the beach with local wares and sells Feni and port wine run by the fishermen turned local.
