The religious city of Haridwar is one of the ancient city in the country and people staying at Delhi often comes here to spend a peaceful weekend. The distance between Delhi and Haridwar is only 200 kilometers and can be reached in an approximate timing of 5 hours. This is one of the pious city in the country and being close to Delhi, it is often chosen as a favorite weekend destination. There are many rituals associated with the Ganga in the Hundu customs and rituals. Bathing in the Ganga is one of the most popular of it, where people cleanse their sins in the Ganga water.

History of Haridwar: It is one of the oldest city in India and is an important site of the pious Kumbh Mela. On the banks of the river, saffron clad sadhus can be seen bathing or chanting. From the ancient time, Haridwar has been one of the most important city.

How to Reach Haridwar from Delhi: The National Highway 58 is an important roadway connecting Delhi to Haridwar via Ghaziabad, Roorkee and Meerut. However, train routes are available to Haridwar too. Through railways, Haridwar is connected to all major cities in the country. The nearest airport is at Dehradun, from where people can reach Haridwar via taxi. By train it takes four and a half hours to reach Delhi.
Attractions in Haridwar: Being an important religious destination, Haridwar has many important temples spread all across the city. Each of these temples have beautiful designs within it and are an important tourist destination of the regions.
