Bikaner in Rajasthan is known for reasons more than one. Home to the gallant Rajpoots Bikaner is one of the major religious places for many a Hindus living in Rajasthan. This ancient city was founded by Rao Bhikaji in 1488. this traditional Rajasthani city is known for its wonderful castles and rich culture. Maharaja Ganga Singh built the palace in the memory of his dead father. The delicate lattice work and the hanging balconies at the fort are mesmerizing. The Junagarh fort at Bikaner was built by Rai singh during the period 1588 to 1593. the massive structure of the fort is quite imposing on all the visitors who come to Bikaner. Within the fort there are some grand sections which should not be missed at any cost. Ganga Mahal, Anup Mahal, Rang Mahal, Diwan e Khas, Hawa Mahal, Phool Mahal, Badal Mahal, Chandra Mahal and Dungar Mahal are some of the most important sections in the fort.
